vintage conditions

In the Yarra Valley, a cold and dry winter finally gave way to a dry, mild spring which slightly delayed budburst. The dry weather then broke beautifully in late November with some much needed rainfall. A bit more in December meant that the canopies were full and healthy when January arrived, bringing periods of extreme heat which continued into February and kept growers on their toes. The remainder of the vintage continued with perfect ripening weather, no rain and no disease pressure. Whilst history might not mark 2018 as one of the best vintages, overall, the wine quality still looked to be above average.
