The winter months calls for cosy nights in with red wine and hot chocolate. This recipe will show you how to mix these two delicious ingredients together.
Ingredients
- 140 g dark chocolate, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp packed brown sugar
- 1/4 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 4 cups whole milk
- 1 1/2 cups shiraz (a wine with chocolate notes)
- Optional cinnamon stick, marshmallows or whipped cream to serve
Method
- In a large saucepan, whisk the cocoa powder, chocolate, brown sugar and cinnamon together.
- Place saucepan on medium heat and add the milk.
- Continue to stir occasionally until hot and smooth.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and add the shiraz.
- Pour the red wine hot chocolate among 7 mugs and top with the optional marshmallow or whipped cream, and serve.
